Spirit Week Set for October 8-12

The 2018 Spirit Week festivities will begin on Monday, October 8. “The Viking Way” will be the theme for the week, as the volleyball, cross country and football teams set out to be victorious in each team’s competitions.

Kicking off the week, Vikings supporters will cheer on the JV football team as they compete in Alma. “Fight for a Victory” is the theme of the day and each class is asked to participate in a “color war” by dressing in the color assigned to each class.

The Freshman-Sophomore girls are asking for “support from all ages” on Tuesday when they will compete in the freshman-sophomore tournament at Southern Valley.  Dress for the day will include seniors as “senior citizens”, juniors as “middle aged, sophomores as the “tweens” and freshman as “babies”.

“Welcome to the Jungle” is the theme for Wednesday’s festivities as student are asked to dress in jungle theme attire.

On Thursday, the cross country team will be “shooting for state”, as they compete in the district meet.  Along with the volleyball team taking on Kenesaw at home, a western theme has been chosen.  Students are asked to dress in their favorite western clothes.

“Show your Viking Pride” with the traditional blue and white dress as everyone cheers on the football team as they take on Overton on Friday.

The festivities will conclude with the crowning of this year’s spirit week royalty after the football game followed by the traditional “cook out” and dance in the high school commons area and gym. Freshmen will be asked to clean up after the conclusion of the dance at midnight.  Sophomores are asked to bring chips and dips, and juniors are asked to bring desserts.

Everyone is encouraged to attend the week’s contests and show your support for the Vikings as they compete “The Viking Way.”
