Girls Cross Country Takes RPAC

Even though the  temperatures were the most moderate of season, the Wolfking Cross Country Teams’ performances were not as the boys placed fourth and the girls took championship honors.

According to Coach Jennifer Kaps, it was a great day to run.  “The kids were mentally tough today. They were able to get past the weather.  All team members performed with a great amount of heart and determination. They accomplished the goals they had set for themselves. All were able to achieve season personal bests, and some even performed with career bests.”

Leading the way for the girls in their championship performance was sophomore runner Trista Callahan who placed 7th out of a field of 36 runners and a time of 23:41.48.  Other placers were Olivia O’Clair and Marley Gonzalez who placed 11th and 12th respectively, and Natalie Johnson who placed 15th. Atlee High finished just out of the medal contention in 17th place.

For the boys, senior Austin Long was the lone Wolfking placer with a ninth place finish from a field of 45, and a time of 18:59.4.  Landon Andersen and Josiah Zeigler had great performances but just missed placing, finishing 16th and 17th respectively. Isaiah Schwarz finished in 23rd, Brian Hemmele came in 29th and Caleb Lopez in 35th.

“We were really excited for the kids, and their performances today,” commented Coach Kaps.
